HIV AIDS Initiative

Objectives of this program are to develop initiative to control and prevent the spread of HIV infection in Gitanyow.

Encourage and support the active involvement of the Gitanyow members in community based HIV/AIDS programming.

Provide timely and comprehensive education and prevention programs. Activities to be carried out are to facilitate the development of prevention activities at the community level for the Gitanyow member infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.

Develop the capacity within Gitanyow to address HIV/AIDS by providing awareness program and relevant training opportunities.This year Gitanyow Human Services has allocated this years funding to purchase HIV and AIDS resources from CheeMamuk. As well as ordering a supply of condoms for the Health Fairs, Youth Center and washrooms.

We now have the teaching kits for HIV/AIDS, STDS, TB and Hepatitis.

Our Public Health Nurse will be conducting these classes.
